Idella (Del) T. Westacott, 84, Grand Forks, North Dakota, died peacefully Thursday, January 16, 2020 at her home.
Del Hoffarth, the daughter of Anthony (Tony) and Lavina (Schneider) Hoffarth, was born December 31, 1935 at Langdon, North Dakota. She grew up and attended school at St. Alphonsus Catholic School. She moved to Grand Forks continuing her education with a degree from Aaker’s Business College.
Del married Richard Westacott on June 20, 1959 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon. They made their home of over 60 years in Grand Forks raising four children and working. When not raising her children Del used her education working as a teller in several banks, starting at First National Bank and retiring from her career at US Bank in 1999. As an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church she was involved for many years in the Alter Society and Homemakers Club.
She always enjoyed the simple things in life; her children, grandchildren, summers at the lake, winters in California, all family and many friends. Hobbies included; Gardening, cooking for her family particularly homemade bread and fresh fish caught by her grandchildren, reading, crocheting and playing cards, especially pinochle. Her family was her passion.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Richard; children, Mark (Brenda) Westacott, East Grand Forks, MN, Diana (Brad) Thompson, Artesia, NM, Bev (Mike) Collings, Grand Forks, ND, and Liz (Jim) Snyder, Lima, OH; grandchildren, Mara, Brent, Ethan, Nicholas, Hunter, Tucker, Tommy, and Danny; great-granddaughter, Katy; siblings, Gerry (DeAnne) Hoffarth, Sacramento, CA, Danny (Coralee) Hoffarth, Becker, MN, Lucille (Jim) Konze, Williams, MN and Cy (Barb) Hoffarth, Ice Cracking Lake, MN, and special family member Susan Hoffarth, Grand Forks, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Kathleen Delvo, Floyd Hoffarth, and Verna Demers.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary Service, followed by a prayer service on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks. Services will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 Grand Forks (visitation one hour prior). Interment will be at later date in Memorial Park North Cemetery, Grand Forks. The family prefers memorials be designated to Gift of Life Transplant House Rochester, MN https://gift-of-life.org/.
