Hubert L. "Hubie" Hagen

October 19, 1934 — July 6, 2018

Hubert (Hubie) Lewis Hagen was called home on July 6th, 2018 at the age of 83. He was born 10/19/1934 to Alice (Mather) and George Hagen of Gilby, North Dakota. He was the second youngest of 5 children. In 1959 he married the love of his life, Corrine Rynestad. Together they were blessed with four daughters, Coralyn (Greg) Moen, Doreen (Tim) Lindsey, Heidi (Todd) Johnson, and LouAnn Hagen (Tom Hansen). He also considered longtime friend, Kelly Fladland, as daughter  number 5. He had five grandchildren of whom he adored, Kaitlin (Ben) Woods, Susanna (Donovan) Blue, Kurt Hubert Hansen, Jordan Hagen Johnson, and Jacob Hagen Johnson. Hubert worked in the sheet metal industry until he retired in 1991. After his retirement, he found joy in fixing up his Allis-Chalmers tractors and anything else that needed work. He very much enjoyed spending time at the Gilby hardware store where he would visit, drink coffee, and tell jokes with his friends. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family. Fishing became a hobby later in life and he was usually the only one to catch any fish. He spent many hours at Altru Dialysis where he was surrounded by many caring nurses and staff that became a big part of his life. Hubert is survived by his wife of 58 years, his 4 daughters, 5 grandchildren, and his beloved brother Donald (Cheryl) Hagen of Milford, Texas, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Alice and George, his sisters Luella and Lorna, and his brother Darwin. His funeral will be on Thursday, July 12th at 2:00 pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Honeyford, North Dakota. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service in the church.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Altru Renal Dialysis.
