Honoria M. Sorlien, 59, Thompson, ND, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, surrounded by her family and close friends. Celebration of life will be held in the spring when her flowers are blooming.
Honoria was born in Pullman, Washington, and lived throughout the Midwest with her parents, Conny and Yvonne Nelson, and her seven siblings Priscilla, Christopher, Prudence, Melissa, Conny, Elizabeth, and Felicia. She settled in Grand Forks where she raised her three beloved sons, Jonathan, Nicholas, and Jacob. Honoria was a devoted mother to her boys and loved her daughters-in-law Jessica, Magdelyn, and Alexis, and she was an adoring grandmother to Mason, Makenna, and Kaiser.
Honoria worked at Jenny Craig for 15 years and was fulfilled each day supporting her clients in achieving their goals. She had a special bond with her employer and friend, Kirsten Johannson, and enjoyed a close relationship with Dana Illerbrunn and her other co-workers.
She met the love of her life, Russell Haltli, 14 years ago. They enjoyed living on his farm in Thompson for the last few years and were planning a summer wedding. Honoria loved taking road trips with Russ and her best friend and sister Felicia to visit her mother Yvonne in Missoula, Montana, and visiting national parks along the way.
Honoria had a passion for gardening and nurtured a beautiful collection of exotic orchids indoors. Her cats Ilene and Eddie gave her great joy. She was a fabulous cook and was famous for her spicy salsa. She loved creating artwork in all kinds of mediums and often shared personalized pieces with her family. Honoria also loved having fun with the crazy Garden Group from the Parrot’s Cay.
She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will always carry her memory in their hearts. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
