HELEN A. BRAUNBERGER
Helen Alyce Braunberger 85 years young surrendered to cancer and passed on her own terms, peacefully, surrounded by family on Monday, November 19th 2018 at Valley Elder Care Grand Forks ND
She was born in Minot, ND September 9th 1933 to Evald (Jack) and Rita (Mollenkopf) Gausvik she grew up and attended schools in Minot, ND. Helen and her husband Gene Braunberger moved around the country frequently during their first years, following his profession. She eventually settling in Medora ND to pursue a family business. Helen was very proud of building that business and raising her family there, as well as garnering many lifelong friendships and fond memories.
She enjoyed her outdoor activities and adventures with her children and grandchildren that ranged from tending the horses in the earlier years to hunting, hiking, fishing, skating, sledding, biking, etc. Helen was a homemaker and very accomplished cook, baker, seamstress, painter to name a few. She was very involved with her family’s extracurricular activities, as well as being into most every activity that was afforded in a small community. She found time to participate in many continued education courses. Helen was always eager to learn something new. She loved animals, and had many special pets.
Moving on in life, found her travelling, exploring and living life to the fullest. living in various places. Finally buying a home in Dickinson ND and settling in for 18 years.
She was very active and involved with her church and groups, with many wonderful friendships and memories made. Her final move was made to Grand Forks ND, where she resided at Parkwood Senior Living. She had many wonderful friendships and memories there, and was very active. Even in her final weeks, she put on her costume and attended the Halloween Gala.
She is survived by her brother Curtis Gausvik San Diego CA; children Cindi Evans Worcester Mass. Gene (jr) Braunberger (MaryEllen Logan) Medora ND Kelly Guerin Glendale Az Roxy Braunberger (Bob Morgan) Grand Forks ND grandchildren Jessica, Jason, Eric, Kelsy and Katy and 6 great grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Gerald (Jerry) Gausvik and Clyde Gausvik
