Hector Raymond Beauchamp, age 94 of Grand Forks, ND passed away Thursday, September 19, 2019, at the Woodside Village of Valley Senior Living in Grand Forks.
Hector was born August 31, 1925 in Olga, ND on the family farm, the son of Aristide and Cordelia (Gendreau) Beauchamp. He was the 5th of 11 children. He attended school through the 8th grade at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic School in Olga. Hector was drafted by the US Marines in 1946 and later honorably discharged. Hector was united in marriage to Charlotte Mostad in Olga on November 4, 1953. Hector enjoyed spending time with his family, farming, gardening, hunting and playing cards. He was well-known as a jokester by his family and friends. He was employed as a farm laborer until 1969 and then worked as a sanitation engineer for the Valley Landfill Association. Hector and Charlotte lived, worked and raised a family of three boys in Drayton. They moved to Grand Forks in 1997 to enjoy their retirement years. Hector enjoyed maintenance work and took a position in Grand Forks as a maintenance man that he held into his 80’s. Hector was a lifetime member of the DAV and ND American Legion.
Survivors include children, Terry (Donna), Dayton, NV; Gerry (Ava), Drayton, ND; and Robert “Bobby” (Lisa), Grand Forks, ND; granddaughter Stephanie Beauchamp; two great grandsons, Gavin and Garrett Krout, Surrey, ND; brothers Remi (Betty); Eugene (Ruth); and sister Lorraine (Orlo) Mostad; sisters-in-law Margie Beauchamp and Lorraine Beauchamp; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his wife Charlotte of 63 years; his parents, his infant daughter Cindy Marie; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Omer; Harvey; Richard and Rita, and Rolland; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Jeanette and Orphela Lepire, Doris and Oscar Marcelin, Marcella and Barry Belanus.
Hector passed away peacefully with family joining him in prayer during the night and with his special friend, Gladys, by his side, leaving them to join his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A celebration of Hector’s life will take place at Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks, on Tuesday, September 24th with visitation from 5-7 pm and prayer service at 7 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, September 25th with visitation at 9:30 am followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks. Interment will follow at 3 pm at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Olga.
