Harry E. Bushaw, 78, passed away peacefully in his home on September 29, 2020. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend.
Harry was born on October 8, 1941, in Grand Forks, ND, the son of Catherine “Ivadell” and Francis Bushaw. He grew up in Manvel, ND and graduated from St. James High School in 1959. After serving in the Air Force, he worked in Alaska creating many lasting memories. He returned to Grand Forks, and graduated from the University of North Dakota with his B.S. in Business Administration. He successfully owned the Bun Lounge for 40 years where he made many lifelong friends.
He was a hard-working, compassionate, devoted, and loving person. He could light up a room with his smile, sense of humor, and larger than life personality. Harry had a passion for hunting, pool, politics and Harleys. He loved to take drives and reminisce. He was a strong man of faith and member of St. Michaels Catholic Church. He was a member of the VFW, Eagles, KEM Shrine and Manvel Legion.
He leaves memories to be cherished by his daughter, Michelle (Cory Aaker) Jorde of Grand Forks, ND; step-children Daniel (Andrea) Freese, Dawn (Mark Amsbagh) Hastings, and Todd (Crystal Nelson) Freese all of Grand Forks, ND; grandson Evan Jorde of Grand Forks, ND; step-grandchildren; brother William (Jean) Bushaw and sister Susan Campbell; nieces & nephews; and special friend, Cindy Ferguson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Marilyn and brother-in-law Leonard Helm, brother Jackie Bushaw, step-daughter Jennifer Blake and step-grandson Andrew Blake.
Harry’s greatest joy in life was helping others. His hugs will be missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be given to St. Michaels Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND or St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Manvel, ND.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Grand Forks. Visitation will begin at the church at 10:00 AM Tuesday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Military honors and interment will take place at Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks. Standard Covid-19 precautions apply to those in attendance.
