HAROLD "HAL" EARL JORDET JR.
Harold “Hal” Earl Jordet Jr. 71 passed away on November 19, 2018 at his home in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Hal was born in Fargo, ND on December 11, 1946 to Harold and Gert Jordet of Kindred, ND. He graduated from Kindred High School in 1965. Hal enlisted in the Navy in 1966. After being honorably discharged in 1970, he worked for several businesses in the Fargo area including Prairie Public as a Gaming Manager. He later moved to Grand Forks where he served as the Director of Gaming for Special Olympics North Dakota from 1987- 2007. He served as the Director of Special Projects from 2008 until his retirement in 2011. During his time with Special Olympics, he assisted coaching at the International Special Olympics Summer Games in Connecticut and at the World Summer Games in North Carolina. He assisted with the North Dakota delegation at the first International Summer Games held outside North America in Dublin, Ireland. With an avid interest in golf, he coordinated the Golf Tournaments in Grand Forks, Fargo and Minot. He was inducted into the Special Olympics North Dakota Hall of Fame in 2012. Hal enjoyed golfing with his buddies. He was always full of stories about the fun times he had along life’s way and loved sharing them with everyone. He was an avid sports fan and followed the NDSU Bison football team as one of the seven members of the Road Warriors in the 80’s. In Grand Forks, he was a loyal fan of the UND girl’s basketball teams and of the Sacred Heart basketball and volleyball teams. He was a strong supporter of the Kindred High School and Legion baseball teams. He loved watching the “two Brandons” pitch and enjoyed watching all the other team members perform as he got to know them all. Hal is survived by his sister, Gerry (Harvey) Hoyme, his nephews Darren (Kristin) Hoyme, Brandon and Kayla and Joel (Tara) Hoyme, Owen and Andrea all of Kindred, step daughter, Gail Schutz, step grand children Amanda and Paige Erickson all of Fargo. Other special people in his life were Molly Hanson, Bill and Helen Rath, and Brenda Lunski all of Grand Forks and his buddy Norm. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The Memorial Service will be at 3:00 on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks, ND. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date in the Kindred Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Kindred Baseball Association, 439 B-52 Blvd, Kindred, ND 58051 for the Kindred Baseball Field Renovation Project.
