Harold Jacob Gangelhoff was born November 2nd, 1929 to William and Sophia Irene Gangelhoff in (Grand Forks ND). He was the second child of nine. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He graduated from Central High School class of (1948) in Grand Forks.
He met his future wife MaryAnn Ill at a Walther League outing. During this time he went into the Army during the Korean War. While on leave Harold and MaryAnn married on November 25th, 1951. They started their married life stationed in California. After his honorable discharge from the Army they came back to Grand Forks where He worked as the “Blind Man” for 10 years at Grand Forks Glass and Paint. In 1963 Harold started working for Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL) for 30 years until retiring in 1993. During all this time Harold managed rental properties starting in 1955 and bought the duplexes in 1959. Harold and MaryAnn were blessed with 3 daughters: Joanne, Cathy and Marilyn
Harold was a very active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church with 37 years of service holding office as secretary, elder and chairman. Monday nights were always for church meetings.
Harold died October 16, 2022 at Valley Senior Living on Columbia in Grand Forks, ND at the age of 92 years.
Harold is survived by, Joanne (Alan) Vasek; Cathy (Jack) Robertson; Marilyn Irrgang; sisters Pearl Johnson, Deloris Smith and brother Theodore Gangelhoff; 8 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren.
Harold is preceded in death by his wife MaryAnn (2013), his parents, William and Sophia Irene Gangelhoff, sisters Eva Harpster, Evelyn Donnelly and brothers Elmer, Jerome and William Gangelhoff.
Harold is also preceded in death by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who conquered death and the grave on Easter Sunday. Jesus says, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live even though he dies. And whoever lives and believes in me will never die.” Jesus says, “Be thou faithful unto death and I will give you the crown of life.” Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia!
FUNERAL SERVICES: Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 10:30 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, ND.
VISITATION: Tuesday October 18, 2022 from 5-7 pm followed by a prayer service at 7:00 pm in Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks, ND
INTERMENT: Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
