Greg J. Thingelstad, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on November 20, 2024 in Grand Forks, ND, at the age of 72.

Born on February 9, 1952, in Northwood, ND, to Ardell Thingelstad and Sonia (Lee)Jacobson. An alumnus of Northwood High School, Greg took pride in the education he received, graduating with the Class of 1970.

Throughout his career, he accumulated knowledge and skills in the construction field that he shared willingly with those around him, embodying the spirit of a true learner and mentor. Greg exemplified a life dedicated to lifelong learning and hard work. He devoted many years of his career to Peterson Construction and most recently, to Innes Construction, where he was known for his tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to quality.

Greg was not only a dedicated professional but also a loving family man. He married his beloved wife, Karen Mueller, in 1986, and together they raised two daughters, Staci and Laura. His proudest accomplishments included not only his marriage but also the joy of becoming a grandfather to Emerson, Zane, and Jensen. Greg cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, imparting love and wisdom to the next generation.

Known for his warm personality, Greg had an infectious enthusiasm for life. He loved having a good time and enjoyed the company of family and friends. His interests were diverse, spanning from hunting and fishing to passionately supporting the University of North Dakota hockey and football teams. Those who knew him will remember his special tradition of having a reserved seat at the Ralph Engelstad Arena, where he watched many games with pride and excitement.

Greg is survived by his loving wife, Karen; daughters, Staci (Jon) Leier and Laura (Jamison) Fuqua; grandchildren, Emerson and Zane Leier, and Jensen Fuqua; and siblings, Cindy Abalayan, Moreen (Carroll) Holmen, and Bill (Viv) Thingelstad; brothers-in-law: Bruce (Sandy) Mueller, Russell (Joan) Mueller, David (Ann) Mueller, Dale (Joy) Mueller, and Gary (Patty) Mueller; many nieces and nephews and step-father, Robert Lee.

He is preceded in death by his parents (Ardell and Sonia), grandparents, brothers-in-law Robert Mueller and Tim Abalayan; nephew, Timothy Mueller; mother and father in law, Therese and Vernon Sandlan.

As we remember Greg, we celebrate a life well-lived, characterized by love, laughter, and dedication to both family and profession. His legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved him.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Spring of 2025.
