Gregory M. Burris, 73, Alvarado, Minnesota, died Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, North Dakota.
Gregory Max Burris, the son of Harold August Burris and Maida Luella (Makings) Burris, was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on December 13, 1948. He attended school in Council Bluffs, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1967. After graduation he worked as an agent for organ donor transportation. Gregory married Linda Eichmann on April 4, 1970 at Omaha, Nebraska. They lived in the Council Bluffs area and later in Hastings, Minnesota before moving to Grand Forks in 1981. Gregory was an optician at the North Dakota Eye Clinic and also held various optician positions in the local area until he retired in 2009.
He was a longtime member of the American Board of Opticiancy and National Contact Lens Examiners. Gregory was a member of the Alvarado Baptist Church, and served on the church boards. He later became a member of the Cottonwood Community Church in Grand Forks.
Gregory enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, woodworking, cooking, and animals. He got the greatest joy from being a husband, father, and grandfather.
Gregory is survived by his wife Linda, Alvarado, MN; children, Matthew Burris, Grand Forks,, Amanda (David) Hughes, Karlstad, MN, and Danielle Burris (Evan Campbell), Grand Forks; grandchildren, Hailee, Sarah, Josephine, Asher, Emma-Kate, Zachariah, Isaac, Jedaiah, Gideon, Danika, and Dravan; a sister, Kathy (Darris) Doughman, Council Bluffs, Iowa; and a brother, Kenneth (Claudia) Burris, Norfolk, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, James McGrew; and a brother, Douglas Burris.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 4, 2022 at Cottonwood Community Church, 308 S. 5th St., Grand Forks with visitation one hour prior to the service in the church.
