Gregory (Greg) “Pudge” George Moen, of Gilby, ND passed away at home on January 14, 2019 at the age of 56 after a cancer battle due to Crohn’s Disease.
He was born on May 6, 1962 to Marcella (Jones) and Maurice Moen of Gilby. Greg graduated from Midway High School and NDSCS with a degree in Diesel Technology. Greg married Cora Hagen on April 7, 1990. While they had no children of their own, Greg adored and supported his numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews…he was so proud of them all and they always put a smile on his face and warmth in his heart.
Greg worked for Oppegard Implement as a Diesel Technician/Service Manager from 1982 until the time of his death. He was very good at his job and had many loyal customers who appreciated and trusted his work and dedication. The kindness shown by the owners and staff of Oppegard’s during his illness did not go unnoticed by Greg or his family. He was a 30+ year member of Gilby Fire/Rescue in which he took great pride in helping to develop over the years. He had such a strong passion for helping others in time of need. He also enjoyed vegetable gardening and canning which he found relaxing.
Greg is survived by his wife, Cora of 28+ years; his Little Red Blessing & furry caregiver and comforter, Chester; brothers: Allan of Gilby, Gary (Willie) of Gilby, Roger of Fargo; sisters: Nancy (Ricardo) Ramon of East Grand Forks, Margie (Mike) Flanagin of Thompson, Theresa (Russell) Grabanski of Inkster; mother-in-law, Corrine Hagen; sisters & brothers-in-law: Doreen (Tim) Lindsey of Gilby, Heidi (Todd) Johnson of Petersburg, LouAnn Hagen of Gilby & Tom Hansen of Gilby; aunts, Bella Moen of San Francisco, CA, and Kathy Haug of Grand Forks; uncle, Don Benson of Grand Forks, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcella and Maurice; nephew, Judd Moen; father-in-law, Hubert Hagen and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
**In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Red River Valley, Gilby Fire/Rescue or a cemetery fund of your choice.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Honeyford, ND, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be at Prairie Home Cemetery in Gilby, ND.
Lunch will be served at the Forest River Community Center immediately following the service.
