Gordon Reed Otto, 73 of Emerado, ND died Friday, October 27, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Gordon Reed Otto was born on May 4,1950, the son of Gordon Eli and Delores (Hunter) Otto in Grafton. ND. He was raised and educated in Harvey and Rugby, ND. Reed enlisted in the United States Army in March of 1968 and received an honorable discharge in March of 1971. He married Pamela Ose on August 6, 1971, and they made their home in Grand Forks and Emerado, ND. Reed worked as a mechanic at Highway Host Standard, auto dealers, and most recently Rydell’s where he retired in 2018.
Reed loved the drag races. He and his Racecar buddy, John Lyons, put on a lot of miles and made a lot of noise wherever they raced. He also enjoyed fishing and time with family and friends. He and wife Pam spent many summers camping and fishing in Devils Lake and later at Stump Lake. His dream was to retire to the mountains of Tennessee where he and Pam spent one winter enjoying the great outdoors.
Reed is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Pam Otto: two daughters, Shiela Otto (Grand Forks) and Amanda Otto (Los Angeles, CA): his mother Delores Suess: Sister Connie (LeRoy) Eberle: Brothers, Gerald (Laurie) Otto, Keith Otto, James (Joanne)Otto, Dan (Joan) Otto,Ricki (Linda) Otto, and Gary (Ellen) Otto, sister-in-law Dawn (Dale) Richards, brother-in-law Russ Zimprich: numerous nieces and nephews. He had 2 God-daughters Shayla Ouelette and Dana Otto.
Reed was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Otto, sister-in-law, Vicki Zimprich and brother-in-law Craig Ose.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Amundson Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Amundson Funeral Home.
