Gordon “Gordy” Linnell, 74, Grand Forks, ND, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks peacefully with his twin girls by his side. 

Gordon Harold Linnell was born July 5, 1947 in Grand Forks, the son of Harold and Jeanette (Johnson) Linnell. He was raised in Grand Forks/Emerado area and graduated from Grand Forks Central High School. He graduated from The North Dakota State School of Science with an Electrician degree. He started his Union Electrician career working thru out the United States.  Gordy and family settled in rural Grand Forks where he took over the family farm after the death of his father.  He founded G & G Sporting Goods on the family farm.  After moving to Grand Forks in 1989, he started Gordy’s Electric.  He worked as an electrician until retirement.  After retiring, he started Northern Rifle Accurizing gunsmithing, where he enjoyed drinking coffee, eating cookies and talking with his friends. 

His passions were target shooting (Trap and Silhouettes) and hunting.  He especially enjoyed his big game hunting trip to Africa.   He also had a love for vintage military weapons.  Gordy was active in the Friends of the NRA and NASSA. He also loved being involved with youth shooting and mentoring programs.  Teaching them the skills of marksmanship and the art of gun smithing. 

Gordy is survived by his wife of 52 years, along with daughters: Kasie Miller and Kristie Barney Robinson; sister: Shirley Linnell Rydberg; sister-in-law, Marcie Linnell Gish; nieces Shelly and Diane. 

Gordy was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Lloyd; in-laws; Melvin and Hulda, son-in-law, Dave Barney; and brother-in-law's, Phil Rydberg and Kenny Reinhart. 

Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 9, 2021 at University Lutheran Church of Grand Forks. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, October 8, 2021 at Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for the hour before the service in the church.
