Gitta Goeser, age 61, longtime resident of Buxton, ND, died on July 19, 2024, in her home surrounded by her family after a long courageous battle.
Gitta was born on May 29, 1963, in Neunkirchen, Germany to her loving parents, Stewart and Gisela Chase. She was the oldest of three children. She moved to the United States at the age of two. She grew up in Grand Forks, ND and then eventually to East Grand Forks, MN. She graduated high school in Northwood ND. She continued her education at the Hair Designers Academy in Grand Forks and went on to work at Regis Hair Salon. She later opened her own salon “Gitta at the Ultimate Look” where she gained a beautiful family of fellow hair stylists, who she would refer to as “her girls” along with many longtime clients who became longtime friends.
Gitta was a woman of faith, who used her life as a testimony to others. She spread the love of Christ at every chance she could! She loved giving back, often silently. One of the most recent projects was the H.O.P. E. project: Helping Our Precious Elderly. This was a year-round project, each month collecting different items that would eventually bring our family together at Christmas time to assemble many gift bags FULL of comfort items for the elderly in nursing homes. The project grew bigger and bigger each year. She was so humbled by the outpouring of support from her family, friends and clients.
Gitta was also an active member of Hope Church, volunteering wherever she could. Her love for God was evident in all she did, and his light shone upon her life, drawing people to her, allowing her the opportunity to pray over them and show them the love of God. In her last few years, she often spoke about death . . . that she did not want her service to be about her death, but rather the new life of Christ. She wanted her celebration of life to be all about God’s love. Even in her passing she wanted to bring as many people to Jesus as she could. She was so excited to see Jesus, face to face and wrap her arms around her heavenly father. I do believe she heard “well done my good and faithful one” as she saw our Lord face to face.
Gitta is survived by her husband Rodney Goeser, Buxton, ND, children Lukas (Jenna) Chase of Grand Forks, ND, Chantell Haider of Chanhassen, MN, Hayley Chase of Chanhassen, MN, and five precious grandchildren, Justice Chase, Ben Haider, Audrey Haider, Owen Haider, Charis Chase, her mother, Gisela Chase, her sisters, Michelle (Randy) Jenson and Diana Chase and many nieces and nephews. Also survived by Gitta are her two special friends, Londyn and Denver Flanagan, whom she held dear to her heart.
