Geraldine “Jeri” Ellen Renault Cammack passed away August 26th, 2023 at the age of 86. Jeri was born on December 27th, 1936 in Belcourt, North Dakota.
She attended school in Belcourt, ND, Stephan, SD, and Fort Totten, ND, graduating from Turtle Mountain Community High School. For college, Jeri attended Aakers Business College in Minot, ND. It was here that she met her future husband, William “Bill” Glenn Cammack, where he was stationed in the Air Force. Jeri worked as a Librarian/Media Assistant in the Turtle Mountain Community School System for many years, retiring in the early 1990s.
Jeri and Bill married in November 1960. Together, they raised three children, Michelle Cammack-Poulson, Billie Jo Cammack, and Beau Cammack. The family split their time between North Dakota and Kentucky for several years before eventually settling down in Belcourt, ND. Jeri and Bill, a school teacher, devoted their lives to their children and the many other children that they worked with throughout their careers. Jeri settled near family on the Renault Family land in Belcourt, ND following the passing of Bill in 1987.
Jeri spent many happy years caring for her flowers and birds, reading, cheering on the Vikings, spending time with her sisters at the casino, hosting family holidays and birthdays, watching her grandchildren grow, and traveling. She frequently made the trip to Grand Forks, ND to visit Billie Jo and St. Paul, MN to visit Michelle and her family, and loved to attend music and sporting events for her grandchildren in both North Dakota and Minnesota. Jeri lived alone in her later years but loved to have her door open to visitors. She kept her cookie jar full of everyone’s favorites as treats for her beloved guests. Many a hand have been in Grandma Jeri’s cookie jar over the years. Jeri, along with sister, Dodsie Bruce, and niece, Orie Richard, was a primary caregiver for her mother before her passing. Following her mother’s passing, Jeri continued to live on the Renault Family land. She loved and cherished her time with family and friends and was described as naturally sweet, kind, and caring by all who knew her.
Jeri moved to Rolla, ND to Parkview Assisted Living in July 2017, to be closer to Beau and his family. She and Beau enjoyed a weekly breakfast biscuit and cappuccino date on Sundays, and the family enjoyed visiting frequently to play bingo, dominoes, and work on puzzles with her. She continued to travel to Grand Forks, ND and St. Paul, MN for holidays and other special events. Jeri moved to St. Paul, MN to New Perspectives Assisted Living in February 2023 where she spent time exploring the Twin Cities with Michelle and her family. Jeri passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and caring medical staff who tended to her compassionately during her final weeks. She lived a full life, was loved by many, and will be deeply missed.
