Gerald “Jerry” Cain (87) of Grand Forks, ND, passed away Monday, September 19, 2022 at Valley Senior Living in Grand Forks.

Gerald Leon Cain was born January 6, 1935 in Republican City, NE to Francis and Mary (Willy) Cain. He was raised and attended school in Republican City.

Jerry married Bernice Margaret Bauer on July 30, 1953 in Mandan, ND. They lived and worked in Grand Forks. Jerry co-owned B & C Heating and Roofing Co. and C & B Rentals. He also owned and operated Cain’s Auto and Trailer Sales.

Jerry was a Jack-of-all-trades. He raised Appaloosa horses, attended auction sales looking for deals, and raised various “hobby farm” animals. He was also a lifetime member of the Eagles.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Bernice; children: Mickie (Donnie) Kvasager, Barb (Jay) Robinson, and Kitty (Glenn) Schumacher; grandchildren: Cody (Angela) Kvasager, Jayson (Sarah) Robinson, Mandy (Jason) Runyan, Nick (Michelle) Schumacher, Dusty (Brittney) Robinson, Laura (Andrew) Lindell, Vanessa (Travis) Brorby, Anna (Dusty) Littlefield; great-grandchildren: Kobe, Dylan, Max, and Natalie Kvasager, Mia and Kinsey Robinson, Cameron and Abby Runyan, Nora and Olivia Schumacher, Huntley and Hennessey Robinson, Gray and Teddy Lindell, Riley and Rhett Brorby, Josie, Cammi, Lucy and Colt Littlefield; half-sisters Claire Cullen and Connie (David) Torstvet; beloved niece Sandy (Challen) Matthews; as well as many other nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Leo, Dan, Margaret, Eleanor, Fran, Joe, Lorayne, Bill, Bob, Jim, Ron, Elaine, and Cathy.

**In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice Red River Valley or Valley Senior Living. 

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the funeral home.

Burial will be at a later date.
