George was born August 6, 1933, in Grand Forks, the son of Michael and Rose (Eisenzimmer) Sattler. He grew up attending St. Michael’s Catholic School and graduated from St. James’s High School. He then attended Aaker’s Business College where he received his Associates Degree.

He continued his career working for the North Dakota National Guard retiring in 1990 as a Master Sergeant. He was a member of the VFW and a charter member of the DAV Chapter #2 in Grand Forks.
Early in his career, George learned the value of always putting his soldiers first, living his philosophy of “Give them everything they are entitled to, nothing more, nothing less!”
