Guff Cook, age 71 of Walhalla, ND passed away on Tuesday, February 4th, 2025, at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.
A family led memorial service will be held Saturday, February 8th at 11:00 AM at the Walhalla Lutheran Church, with a lunch to follow.
Garfield W. “Guff” Cook was born on April 1st, 1953, in Winkler Manitoba to George “Chub” and Lorrayne (Lein) Cook. He grew up and attended school in Walhalla, ND. Guff was an accomplished horseman and had a lifetime love of horses and mules. He rode and drove many saddle horses and teams over the years and was truly happy in the company of a good horse or mule. Guff loved old tractors, he loved trucks, and pretty much anything with an engine. He was a truck driver and retired from S&S Grain in 2021.
Guff had a big heart and a generous spirit. He loved his family deeply, and he loved his friends as if they were family. He was always ready to help anyone in any way he could, his door was always open, he was never without a joke and a smile, and he always had a story to tell.
He is survived by his daughters, Tracy (John) Dalsted, Emerado, ND, and Jessie Cook, Cavalier, ND; Grandchildren Lindsey (Josh) Wretling, Grand Forks, ND, Mason Dalsted, Fargo, ND, and Noah Bartolomei, Cavalier, ND; Great-Grandchildren Loa and Royce, Grand Forks, ND. Sisters: Peggy Schmitz, Coleharbor, ND, Mary (Francis) Kalis, Walhalla, ND, special friend Sherri Puppe, Hensel, ND, and many cousins, nieces, nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, Chub and Lorrayne, sister Ruth Winger, and wife Debbie.
