It is such a sad world at this time, adding to our heartbreak of losing our loved mother on May 10, 2020 at Valley Senior Living, Grand Forks, at the age of 95 yrs.     

Frances Lucille Pokrzywinski was born on September 21st, 1924 in Hanson township, rural Ransom County, North Dakota, the daughter of Cornelius and Alma (Olson) Anderson. She attended Hanson school in Hanson Township, North Dakota where she played softball in her younger years. Frances had a kind soul and worked as a nanny before She married Theodore F. Pokrzywinski on November 27, 1945 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Warsaw, North Dakota. They spent early married life living on the farm and then moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota where they spent their life together for 68 years.                                                                                                                                       

Frances was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was a member of the Eagle’s Club where Frances and Ted enjoyed dancing and playing Bingo.  Frances also loved baseball, crocheting, sewing, cooking, baking, and in her later years playing rummy with her children. 

Mother loved to hear this from us....You make me so happy, we are blessed to have you for our mother, you are the most beautiful mother in the whole wide world, and she loved to hear.... are you ready to play rummy...

Our Mother made so many wonderful things in her life....we wouldn’t be here without her....Our Mothers legacy and devotion was dedicated to her children and love of her family lives in us forever....                                                                                                                                                                Frances is survived by her children, Peggy (Bob) Adair, Grand Forks, ND, Mary (Bill) Leadens, Fifty Lakes, MN, Jule (Tom) Laughlin, Grand Forks, ND, Ruth (Mike) Grzadzieleski, Grand Forks, ND, Ted (Sherri) Pokrzywinski, White House, TN, Debbie (Terry) Allen, Westland, MI, Frank Pokrzywinski, Grand Forks, ND, and Chris (Amy) Pokrzywinski, Grand Forks, ND;  15 Grandchildren; 11 Great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving siblings, Lillian Gilbertson, Fennimore, WI, Julie Ann (Marvin) Bauske, West Fargo, ND, and Phyllis (Dave) Thompson of Lisbon, ND; sisters-in-law, Glenda Anderson, Irvine, CA, and Bev Anderson of LaMoure, ND.


Frances was preceded in death by granddaughter, Lynn Pokrzywinski, granddaughter, Andrea Dozhier, grandson, Adam Grzadzieleski, grandson, Drew Grzadzieleski; grand parents; parents; and husband, Ted Pokrzywinski, 9/11/2013; brothers, Ove Anderson, Marvin Anderson; sisters, Alice Olson, Anne Guttormson, Lorraine Ostrom, and Florence Strander.

Funeral Services will be held privately at Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery of Grand Forks.
