**Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 29 at Amundson Funeral Home with visitation from 10-11am before the service, with food/fellowship at the King's Walk Golf Course immediately after the service. 

Private Interment at a later date: Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore, ND.

Fern A. (Carlson) Virden was born on June 27, 1927 in Northwood, ND to Gust and Myrtle Carlson. She grew up and attended school in Northwood and graduated in 1945.

Fern married James (Mac) Virden on April 30, 1948. They resided in Grand Forks where they raised their five children.

After Jim’s retirement from the Burlington Northern Railroad, they spent time each winter in Arizona. When she wasn’t in Arizona, you might find her on the golf course or doing what she loved most, dancing on Sunday night at the American Legion in East Grand Forks. She was light on her feet and proud of it.

Fern was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 70 years, four brothers, three sisters, her daughter-in-law, Katie (Larsen) Virden, and her grandson, David James Rudolf.

She is survived by her sister, Patsy Bjoralt of Northwood; son, Tim; daughters, Deb (Greg) Rudolf, Wendy (Dennis) Moore, Carole and Polly; 6 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

We would like to say thank you to her Maple View Memory Care family in Bismarck where she resided for three years following the death of our dad. For your exceptional care, we will be forever grateful.
