Evelyn Lowe passed away July 3, at Valley Senior Living on 42nd, Grand Forks, ND at age 98. Evelyn Violet (Mayers) Lowe was born May 14, 1922 at 1502 Dyke Ave in Grand Forks, N.D. to Fred and Frieda Mayers. She was baptized at a schoolhouse in Michigan township by Rev. Thomas Gabrielson after she was married. She was confirmed when she joined St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in the 50’s by Rev. Stefcies. Eve went to school in Emerado 1927-1933 and from 2nd grade until graduating in the 8th grade attended Allendale school—1 ¼ mile from home. For fun, Eve went to fairs and free movies in Thompson,N.D. There was another man who was interested in Eve’s attentions. She decided instead on Jim and told Jim that “I guess that you’re the lucky one. Eve worked alongside Jim on the farm the entire time that they farmed. She was very active in her church at St. Matthews helping to raise monies with it’s bazaars, making and selling donuts, lefsa, dinners, and making quilts to give to missions. Evelyn is survived by her brother Don Mayers; Thompson, ND and sister Betty (Joe) Lombness; Fort Wayne, IN as well as many nieces, nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Lowe; brothers: Herald, Richard, Vincent, James, Herald Edwin; and sisters: Adeline, Lorraine, Lydia and Francis. Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Thompson. Interment will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks. Due to Covid 19 all who attend the service will be required to wear a facial mask. Memorials are preferred to Valley Senior Living on 42nd - Heartland Neighborhood.
