Eulalia D. Bareksten, 91, Grand Forks, ND, passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021.
Eulalia Delores Bickel was born at home on the family farm near Willow City, ND on February 19, 1930, to Edward and Rose (Roths) Bickel. She was raised and educated at Willow City along with her 9 siblings, graduating from high school in 1948.
Eulalia was united in marriage to Alfred Bareksten at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Willow City on November 7, 1948. They lived in Willow City, on a farm near Overly, ND, and in Kloten, ND, where Eulalia worked in the post office. They moved to Rocklake, ND where Eulalia worked as secretary/bookkeeper at the Rocklake Farmers Union Elevator Association. They also lived at Thief River Falls, MN. and Devil Lake, ND before retiring in Grand Forks.
Eulalia was a wonderful homemaker and cook. She had a strong faith and was very involved in church, bible study, and ladies aid wherever she and Alfred lived. They enjoyed travel, camping with their children and grandchildren, and collecting dishes and antiques. After moving to Grand Forks they became avid UND and Fighting Sioux supporters.
Survivors include her children; Nancy (Rick) Blake of Devils Lake, ND, James (Alinda) Bareksten, Blaine, MN, Catherine (Guy) Mitchell, Rocklake, ND, Beverly (Del) Gage, Sarles, ND ; grandchildren; Craig (Amy) Blake, David Blake, Corey (Bethany) Bareksten, Ross (Jennifer) Bareksten, Lance ( Karri) Bareksten, Jesse Mitchell, Blair Mitchell, Aaron ( Kristie) Mitchell, Cole Mitchell, Tracy ( LeeAnn) Gage, Jami (Ryan Griggs) Gage, Katie ( Mike Kortie) Gage; 19 great grandchildren; brothers Curtis Bickel, Gene Bickel and Gary Bickel, and the many friends she made at Country Estates where she lived the past 4 years.
Eulalia was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Bareksten on November 21, 2019, parents Edward and Rose Bickel, sisters, Fern Anderson, Marjorie Harlan, and Lila Diebold, brothers, Jack Bickel, Lyle Bickel, and Dwayne Bickel.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 pm before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery of Grand Forks following the service.
