Eugene H. Mach, 85, Grand Forks, died Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Valley Senior Living on Columbia, Grand Forks.
Eugene Harry Mach, the son of Harry Emil Mach and Gertrude Elizabeth (O’Reilly) Mach, was born in Grafton, North Dakota on December 14, 1938. Eugene was raised and educated at Minto, North Dakota. He continued his education, earning a Bachelor of Science in degree Education and Mathematics from Mayville State University.
Eugene married Arlene Dobson on June 7, 1960 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Minto ND. He was a teacher at Flaxton, North Dakota before starting his career with the US Customs Service assigned to the Pembina Area and later in Washington DC, Chicago, and Brunswick, GA. He received the President’s Award for Distinguished Federal Civilian Service from President Reagan
He enjoyed RV’ing, horse racing, and casinos. Eugene enjoyed meeting Ronald Reagan in person upon receipt of his award.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Arlene Mach; his children, Tammi Price (Marc),Tom Mach (Dina), Mike Mach (Margaret) and Leann Goss (Rick); 8 grandchildren, Tom Mach, Jr., Candi Mach, Daniel Mach, Jennifer Krenik, Bradley Price, Dani Mach, Ben Goss, Harrison Goss, and 9 great grandchildren; brother Harold Mach (Mary).
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Gertrude Mach, a brother Dennis Mach, and nephew Pat Mach.
A Celebration of Life for Eugene and Arlene will be from 3 to 5 p.m. with a 4:00 p.m. Prayer Service and sharing of memories.
Mass of Christian Burial for Eugene and Arlene will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks with visitation one hour prior to Mass. Interment for Eugene and Arlene will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Minto, North Dakota
Memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
