Esther N. Sorlien

Esther N. Sorlien, age 71, of Grand Forks, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

A family-directed Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the East Grand Forks VFW Post #3817.

Esther Noreen Berg was born on November 7, 1953, to Harry and Pearl (Smith) Berg. She was born and raised in Rugby, North Dakota, where she graduated from Rugby High School. Esther moved to Grand Forks where she attended Aaker's Business College. On June 23, 1973, Esther was united in marriage to Wendell Sorlien in Leeds, North Dakota. Together they made Grand Forks their home.

Esther enjoyed spending time baking, gardening, reading, ceramics, playing Bunco, painting, puzzles, knitting, and traveling with her husband. Together they traveled to every continent except Antarctica. Esther was involved with several local nursing homes and the East Grand Forks VFW Post #3817.

Esther is survived by her husband, Wendell; sisters, Phyllis (Larry) Schneider, and Karen (Jerry) Skjonsby; and brothers, Wayne Berg, and Ralph (Linda) Berg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Pearl; brothers, Lawrence, Palmer, Sandford, Orville, and Dean Berg; and sisters, Irene Beauchant and Annabelle Ramsfield.
