Ellen Marie Jorde, the daughter of Mikkel and Sylivia (Neste) Jorde, was born in Grand Forks on October 14, 1942.  She was raised and educated in Mekinock, North Dakota, she graduated high school from Gilby North Dakota and graduated from Mayville State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with a specialty in Elementary Education.   Ellen married Adrian Moritz on June 2, 1961.  They lived in East Grand Forks, Minnesota, where Ellen taught Elementary Education for the first part of her career finishing her career in Learning Disabilities for East Grand Forks Public Schools.  

Ellen enjoyed dancing, crocheting, knitting, camping, and traveling.  She made amazing pickles, and oil painting was one of her hobbies.

Ellen is survived by her husband, Adrian; daughters, Jolene (Mark) Larson, and Jacinda (Andre) Fortune; a granddaughter, Sara (Dan) Pantalion;  grandsons, Evan Larson, and Dredon Fortune, a sister, Ione Wenzel;   brother, Wayne (Bonnie) Jorde.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mikkel and Sylvia Jorde;  a son, Adrian Jarrod Moritz; a brother Ardell Jorde and his wife Leah,   a sister, Shirley Skold, and her husband Merlyn, and a brother in law Al Wenzel.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42^nd St., Grand Forks.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.  Interment will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks. A reception following Interment at the Canad Inn's Ambassador C Banquet Room.
