Eleanore Loing

November 25, 1930 — February 16, 2024

Eleanore (Penny) F. Loing, 93 of Grand Forks passed away at Valley Transitional Care in Grand Forks, ND on Friday, February 16, 2024.

Eleanore was born the daughter of Edward and Mary (Wojciechowski) Gonshorowski in Minto, ND on November 25, 1930. Ellie graduated from a rural Minto high school in 1948.

Eleanore moved to & worked various jobs in Grand Forks; a waitress at the Ontario Lunch Counter and later in packaging and clerical office work at Old Dutch for many years. She became a devoted wife, mother, grandmother & homemaker. She cared for many people over the course of her life and was a long time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.  Ellie felt her legacy on this earth was to make people feel happier after they spent time with her...it might have been a giggle, a hug, or a home-made chocolate chip cookie!

Ellie had a perpetual joy for life and loved kicking up her heels with a good polka!

On  November 18, 1953 Eleanore married Vernon O. Loing in Climax, MN. They were happily married for many years & made their home in Grand Forks, ND They had one child.

Vernon died on August 7, 1991.

Ellie is survived by her daughter, Michele (Rod) Perreault. Grandson, Matt Perreault; Granddaughter, Lauren (Ryne) Dolleslager. All of Grand Forks, ND.

Niece's:  Adeline (Edward) Sichterman, Gobles, MI; Margaret Kroll, St. John, ND; Clarice Kroll, Devils Lake, ND; Donna (Jon) Walker, New York, NY;   Nephew, Rick Gonshorowski, Burnsville, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother and sister-in-law Ambrose and Olga Gonshorowski.; sister and brother-in-law Evangeline and Simon Kroll; sisters Gertrude and Saraphine Gonshorowski.

Special gratitude and heart felt thanks for the love & support to the staff at VTC, Hospice of Grand Forks, and many friends and family.

Also to Cathy Erickson's Band and Radio Show who gave Eleanore countless hours of joy!
