Elaine Farder, 92, Lincoln, IL and formerly of Grand Forks, ND, died Wednesday, November 28, 2018 in Lincoln.
Elaine A. Gowan, daughter of Roy and Lilly Gowan, was born January 11, 1926 on the family farm in Polk County, MN. She attended Turtle River country school and graduated from Oslo High School.
Elaine married a Norwegian (LeRoy Farder) from across the river in 1947 and raised three boys, Greg, Doug and Scott.
Elaine worked a couple of jobs in Oslo and then for many years at the Grand Forks Air Force Base.
She was very active in Faith Evangelical Free Church in Grand Forks for three decades.
She was noted for wearing a butterfly pin to show her Christian beliefs.
Elaine is survived by a son, Greg; daughters-in-law, Debbie Farder, and Marsha Winters; four grandchildren and one great-grandson. She is also survived by brothers, Robert and Gary; and sisters Leila Farder and Lily Gulas.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; sons, Doug and Scott; brothers, Frank, Willis, Roy, Charles and Jim; and by sisters, Delores Jamieson and Lois Ronan.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Faith Evangelical Free Church of Grand Forks. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for the hour before the service in the church. Burial will be in the Oslo Cemetery, Oslo, MN.
