Edsel I. Heggerston, age 82, of Emerado, North Dakota went to be with our Lord on Friday evening, April 17, 2020.
Edsel was born on March 30, 1938 in Tracy, Minnesota and was the son of Ingolf (Bing) and Mildred (Millie) Heggerston. He grew up on a farm southwest of Sacred Heart, MN and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1955. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart. Following High School, he enlisted in the U.S Air Force and served honorably for over 27 years. A pinnacle of his enlistment was serving as the Maintenance Superintendant for the Air Force Thunderbirds. He retired in October 1982 as a Chief Master Sergeant.
In August 1958, he married Inez Gehrke at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City, MN and they had two sons, Craig and Kurt. Throughout his military career he served at numerous locations around the globe, settling in Emerado, ND. In his retirement, Edsel enjoyed spending time with his family, collecting antiques and old cars, and serving with the Volunteer Fire Department. He was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Emerado.
Edsel is survived by his loving wife, Inez; two children, Craig (Deb) of Center City, MN and Kurt (Blyth) of Elizabeth, CO; sister, Geraldine; brother, Jerome; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Edsel was preceded in death by his parents, Bing and Millie
Internment and Memorial will be at Our Saviors Lutheran Cemetery in Sacred Heart, MN on a future date to be determined to ensure the safety of family and friends, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
