Earl DeLyle Hegg, age 76, of Reynolds, ND was called home by our Savior on Sunday, May 12th, 2019 to join the love of his life in the eternal arms of our Lord.
Earl was born on August 21, 1942 in Grand Forks, ND to Norris and Edna (Sannes) Hegg. He went to country grade school at Americus 23 schoolhouse in Americus Township, Grand Forks County, ND and graduated high school from Northwest School of Agriculture, Crookston, MN in 1960.
During a “social gathering”, Earl met Shirley Vigen and it was love at first sight. They were united in marriage on September 4, 1964 at Little Forks Lutheran Church rural Hatton, ND. After their wedding, they decided to pull up roots and move to California. Earl was working up to three jobs at a time to provide for the family they were starting. Kelly and Kristie were born in California and in 1969 they moved back to North Dakota where Kathy, Tim, Todd and Travis were born.
Earl worked many positions including Hanson Trade School in West Fargo where he was a welding instructor. He spent 25 years as a machinist at American Crystal Sugar in Hillsboro before a massive stroke ended his career at the young age of 55. Earl was a member of East Walle Lutheran Church and even taught Sunday School for one year.
His greatest love by far was his wife Shirley who he lost in 2015. They loved to dance and everyone loved to watch them. We imagine there was some dancing the day they joined each other in heaven.
Earl loved spending time with his family. His hobbies included hunting with his boys; family get together’s at the farm which included baseball games in the yard, pinochle tournaments during Christmas and simply sitting around the table talking about memories. Laughter was abundant when he was near. Those who knew him will agree that he had a quick wit and loved telling jokes and bringing a smile to anyone that knew him. Earl was always fixing something for the local farmers or vehicles within the family.
Earl is survived by his children, Kelly Hegg (Joe Smerer), Kristie (Tim) Adam, Kathy (Todd) Radermacher, Tim (Dena) Hegg, Todd (Jeanne) Hegg, Travis (Jessi) Hegg; brother Neil (Judy) Hegg; sister-in-law Darlyne Hegg; grandchildren Jason, Justin, Jacob, Nicholas, Jonathan, Jordan, Brett, Lucy, Jesse, Haley, Samantha, Tyler, Summer, Elizabeth and Evelyn as well as a niece and several nephews.
Earl was preceded in death by his wife Shirley of 52 years; parents Norris and Edna Hegg; brother Ronald Hegg; grandson Alexander Kent Hegg; nephew Richard R. Hegg; mother-in-law and father-in-law Hazelle and Harry Vigen; and step-father-in-law John Halvorson.
