Donny Deziel, age 60, died on Thursday, October 10, 2019, at Altru Hospital from complications of end stage kidney disease. He was born on June 6, 1959, to Donald and Margaret (Fillion) Deziel, EGF, MN. He was born and raised in EGF.
In 1983, Donny married Karen Trostad and they made their home in EGF. They had 2 sons, Josh and Jon Deziel.
Donny was a carpenter his entire life, eventually starting his own construction company, D&R Construction, with long-time friend, Rick Cadreau, until he was forced to retire in 1996 due to kidney disease. After retirement, he looked forward to every harvest season when he could lend a hand to the Pape brothers farm.
Donny had a passion for classic cars and for his 50th birthday bought his dream car, a 1960 Chevy Impala, and in the summer could be seen cruising the streets and attending as many car shows as he was able to.
He is survived by wife Karen, sons Josh (Amy Foss) and Jon, grandson Brixton, “adopted son” Casey Dronen, siblings Mike (Julie) Deziel, Cathy Mootz, Becky (Dan) Roesch, and Tony (Janel) Deziel, father and mother in-law Obert and Marilynn Trostad, sisters-in-law Kathy (Gary) Klang, Cindy (Paul) Andrade, and Tracey Trostad, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Rick and Rod, sister-in-law Pam Castoreno, brother-in-law Gregg Trostad, and nephew Jared Castoreno.
** Many thanks to Dr. Khaled Rabadi, who was Donny’s partner in crime through his long battle with kidney disease, and the staff at Aurora Dialysis for allowing Donny to boss them around through his dialysis runs. Also, thanks to Dr. Randolph Szlabick for his help with Donny in the last few weeks.
In Donny’s last words, “Let’s do this….It’ll be okay.”
