Donna Muriel Schaffer, beloved, mother, wife, and grandmother passed away September 5, 2021 at age 68 with her loving family by her side.

Donna was born August 15, 1953 in Moorhead, MN. She graduated from Central H.S. and attended University of North Dakota where she graduated with a BS in Special Education/Elementary Education.

Donna married her college sweetheart, John, December 21, 1974 at United Lutheran Church. They resided in Lignite, North Dakota. They adopted their daughter, Sarah, in 1981. They moved to MT in 1984 where Donna worked for the Malta Public School System as a teacher in a one room school at the Loring Hutterite Colony.

After John retired, they moved to Grand Forks to be closer to her family and resided in the home she grew up in.   

Donna was a member of WMSTR in Rollag, MN, Oder of Easter Star, Son’s of Norway, American Legion Auxiliary, FORX Amateur Radio Club, and Heritage Village EGF. 

Donna enjoyed geocaching with her husband, cooking, playing the piano, volunteering, crocheting, being a Grandma to Kyler, spending time with family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents David and Muriel Shearer and brother, Danny Shearer. She is survived by her husband of 46 yrs, John F.; daughter, Sarah Matson; Grandson, Kyler Matson; Brother, Mike (Susan) Kankelfritz; Sister, Laurie Eli

Memorial services will be 2:30 PM Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the funeral home.
