Donavon E. Rasmuson

Don E. Rasmuson, age 67, resident of Buxton, ND, was called to duty in Heaven on Friday, October 27th, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Don was born March 11, 1956, in Minot, ND, the son of Duane and Dorothy (Luchsinger) Rasmuson. He grew up and attended school in Surrey. "Go Mustangs!" Don joined the US Army after graduation in 1974, a service he was very proud of. He was stationed in Ft. Leavenworth, KS, and was honorably discharged as an MPI in 1977. Don married his bride, whom he loved a big half, Nan Laudenschlager, on December 14, 1979, in Minot. Don attended Minot State College for a time, then was hired by the University of North Dakota Police Department, Grand Forks, in 1980, and attended the Law Enforcement Academy in Bismarck. Lt. Rasmuson served the Grand Forks Community for over 37 years, where he touched the lives of many students, officers, and members of the community. Lt. Rasmuson dedicated the later part of his career to helping victims through his work with CVIC and other on campus organizations. Finally retiring in 2017, when he began his lifelong passion of farming for the Bjorge brothers full time. Don was an AQHA and ApHA show manager for several years while also being a hitching post for his children and others during their years of showing horses. Don enjoyed playing cards, board games, trivia, getting his "hair done by Harley Davidson," nightcaps and Jeopardy every night. He tolerated NASCAR on the weekends. He most enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the holidays, BBQing with Kiel, and cleaning barn with Jaimie. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren, and he loved them a big half. Don is survived by his wife, Nan; children: Jaimie (Rick) and Kiel (Melissa); five grandchildren: Lucas Fosness, Skadi Gunderson, Jo Rasmuson, Kassie Rasmuson, and Reagan Gunderson ; brother, Doug (Pam) Rasmuson; mother, Dorothy Rasmuson; father and mother in law: Wayne and Fern Laudenschlager and brothers and sisters-in-law: Jay (Jan) Laudenschlager, Missy (Randy) Ellison and James Laudenschlager; along with numerous nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Duane Rasmuson. P.S. "I died." -Don A Funeral Service will be held at 2:30PM on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Buxton, ND. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. A private family interment will be held at a later date. The Rasmuson Family respectfully requests that no black to worn to Don’s funeral. They request blue to be worn in honor of all men and women in uniform serving our great nation.
