Donald James Rupp, 95, Grand Forks ND, formerly of Rugby ND was called home to heaven on Monday, September 21, 2020.
Donald Rupp was born August 15, 1925 at Munich, ND the son of Henry E. and Annie (Quiring) Rupp. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Munich, ND. His family owned and operated the Rupp Elevator and Implement Dealership in Munich, ND. Donald graduated from Munich High School and then went on to graduate from the University of North Dakota with a degree in Business and was a member of the TKE Fraternity.
Donald married Shirley Thompson (Nelson), they had two children, Kevin and Pamela. He worked for Armour & Co. in Grand Forks and for the Grand Forks Grocery Co. He moved to Rugby and was the Assistant Administrator at Good Samaritan Hospital. He then opened his own insurance, tax and accounting business in Rugby.
Donald was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Rugby where he held many offices and sang in the choir. He was active with the Prairie Village and Museum and the Rugby Senior Citizen Center. He was a member of the Rugby Lions club, Quarterbacks club and Village Arts. In his younger days he owned the shortest bar in ND that was in Alsen, ND.
Donald had many interests and convictions. He had a life full of love of family and God. He loved to visit with family and friends, often solving the world’s problems over a cup of coffee. He enjoyed trips to the West Coast, golfing, fishing and camping.
He leaves his memories to be cherished by: Daughter, Pam Rupp of Grand Forks; Brother Gene Rupp of Minot ND; Shirley Thompson of Grand Forks; Nieces, Cheryl (Richard) Hagar, Becky (Jeff) Richards, Kim (John) Krill all of Minot ND, Barb (Bill) Krumland, Grand Forks; Niece-in-law Elaine Rupp, Phoenix AZ; 15 great nieces and nephews and many cousins.
Greeting him in Heaven are: Son Kevin; his parents and grandparents; Brother, Norbert Rupp; sisters-in-law, Helen Rupp and Nellie Rupp; and nephew Bruce Rupp.
The family requests that no flowers are sent.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2020 in Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks with visitation one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks. Covid 19 precautions will be followed and masks will be required.
