Donald Ebertowski, 72 of Warsaw, North Dakota passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Donald was born in Grafton, North Dakota on January 15, 1952, the son of Theodore and Leona (Kamrowski) Ebertowski.
He attended a one room country school house, located about 2 miles from his home (walking uphill both ways in sun, rain or snow drifts 4 feet tall with gunny sacks on his feet). He later attended Grafton High School.
Donald was united in marriage to Mary Riske in July of 1976 in Warsaw, ND. They made their home in Manvel, North Dakota and welcomed their children Teresa, Anne and Joseph there. In 2002 they divorced but have still remained very close friends and active in each other’s lives.
Donald had multiple careers throughout his life. He worked in construction, steel siding, farming, and Home Warranty Service (Homark Homes). His favorite of these careers was working construction jobs alongside his son Joseph (JD Construction).
He has enjoyed many hobbies including snowmobiling, shooting pool, hunting, fishing, cooking (he is known for his sauerkraut), horseshoes, and playing cards. Most of all he enjoyed spending time and visiting with his family, children and grandchildren.
Donald was a very kind, caring and generous man, always thinking of others before himself. He made friends wherever he went, and had a very strong work ethic. He had the best belly laugh and a great sense of humor, which has been passed on to his children, who can find humor in any situation (including writing his obituary). He also gave the best advice, “ Always treat people well”, “Never say ‘whoa’ in a low spot”, “If you ever see someone you know, always say ‘Hi’”, and “always tell people they do a good job, even if they don’t, it makes them feel good”
If you asked him what his greatest accomplishment in life was, he would say his children and grandchildren. He never missed an opportunity to tell them he was proud of them, thankful for them and that no one loved them more than he did.
Donald is preceded in death by his father, Theodore Ebertowski.
Donald is survived by his children, Teresa (Darrin) Devine, Anne (Andrew Olson) Ebertowski, and Joseph (Lindsey) Ebertowski, his grandsons Drew and Cullen Devine, and Elijah and Asher Ebertowski. His mother Leona Ebertowski. His siblings David (Janet) Ebertowski, Winnie (Greg) Stoltman, Judy (Dale) Plutowski, Norleen (Burel) Lane, Duane (Carol) Ebertowski, and Darren (Jenny) Ebertowski.
