Donald G. Christy

Donald G. Christy, born to Samuel and Bernice Christy in Jamestown, ND, in August of 1929 – passed away on August 6, 2022, at Valley Senior Living on Columbia in Grand Forks.

He attended Lincoln Elementary and Jamestown High School. He moved to Grand Forks in 1947 where he attended the University of North Dakota. He joined the army national guard in 1948. He was federalized and subsequently sent to Korea for a tour of duty as an army medic. He returned to the university and finished his degree in mining engineering.

Donald met his wife of 57 years, Frances, in 1952 and they were married in April of 1953. They moved to Silver Bay, MN, where he was employed as a construction engineer. They also lived in North Carolina, Tennessee, and Colorado where he worked as a mineral prospector before returning to Grand Forks in 1958, where he worked as an engineer and managed the Redi-mix plant near the air force base. His last job was at the Grand Forks Air Force Base as a missile silo inspector. He retired in 1997.

Donald had a long relationship with God and attended Immanuel Lutheran Church.

He is survived by two sons: Glenn Christy and Alan (Linda) Christy, 1 daughter: Collette (Allan) Forsman, 4 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. 

Donald was preceded in death by his wife and 6 siblings.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 11 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Grand Forks with visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service in the church.

Interment will be at Fargo National Cemetery in Harwood, ND at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Aug.12.
