Dolores Isobel Common

Dolores Common, 88, Grand Forks, ND died Tuesday November 13th 2018 at Riverview Hospital in Crookston, MN surrounded by her family.

Dolores was born in Cando, ND on March 26th 1930, to Charles and Evelyn (Rice) Armentrout. During her youth she lived in Maza, ND, Devils Lake ND, and California. She returned to Devils Lake, ND and graduated from high school.

On December 1st 1949, she married A. Duane Common in Devils Lake, ND. After their marriage they resided in New Ulm MN, Fargo, ND before settling in Grand Forks.

Dolores was an accountant for many years, working with many large farmers in the area. Every year she attended school in preparation for tax season. After her retirement she volunteered doing tax returns at the Senior Citizens Center.

She was an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, participating in the chancel guild, prayer group, bible study and volunteering for everything from the cookie walk to the funky junk sale. Dolores was a very competitive card player and loved to play with her friends and many grandchildren. She was a member of the VFW for over 50 years. She was an avid reader, enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities as well as traveling to visit friends and family.

Dolores is survived by her children, Diane (Allen) Saul, Cordova, Tenn, Douglas (Marcia), Anaheim, CA, Dawn Moe, Grand Forks, Debra (Daniel) Kopecky, Euclid, MN; grandchildren, Nicole Massa, Michelle Saul, Lynette (Chad) Neppel, Michael (April) Kopecky, Leanne (Michael) Moe McQueen, Laura Kopecky, Jason (Nichol) Moe; 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and a close friend, Rose Raymond.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; son-in-law, Lyle Moe; her parents; her brothers Harold, Howard, Norris, and Darrel Armentrout, and a sister, Norma Skramstad.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 19, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Grand Forks.

Visitation: 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. with a 4:00 p.m. prayer service on Sunday, November 18, at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will continue the hour prior to the service in the church.

Private Burial: Memorial Park North in Grand Forks, ND.
