Diane Lynn (Olson) Majkrzak passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, November 12, 2019. With her family, friends and amazing team of doctors and nurses, she courageously fought ovarian cancer for a little over three years.
Diane was born March 28, 1952 to Gordon and Muriel Olson. In February of 1973 Diane married Daniel Majkrzak of Thompson, ND. They made their home on a farm just outside of Thompson where they raised their three children. Diane was active on volunteer boards and committees with the school and their church for many years, but her most treasured role was as wife, mother, and grandmother.
Diane brought a smile to every person she came in contact with. She was the consummate caretaker who loved to garden, cook, bake, travel, and spend time with family and friends. Some of her greatest joys were time spent with her eight grandchildren, whom she treasured more than anything in the world.
Diane’s faith in God and her love of her church, St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Thompson, brought her peace and reassurance of greater days ahead. She loved passionately and shared her love with all who came in contact with her. Her spirit and influence will live on in her husband, children, and grandchildren.
During Diane’s courageous battle with cancer, she was cared for and loved by an amazing team of doctors and nurses including Todor Dentchev, MD, and Anne Nygaard, MS, FNP-C at the Altru Cancer Center in Grand Forks. She loved all of them like family and she wanted them to know how much she appreciated the care they all provided her.
Diane is survived by her husband Dan; her children Brent (Stacey) Majkrzak, Sheri (Kelly) Gefroh, and Kim (Corey) Gullion, her grandchildren Olivia, Adriauna, Mason, Jackson, Ella, Grace, Vivien, and Henry; her mother Muriel, her siblings Debbie (Gary) Ofenloch, Dave (Sue) Olson, Donn (Renee) Olson, Dale (Gayle) Olson, and Darla (Allen) Berdal; and many more beautiful family members and friends that touched her heart deeply.
A celebration of her life will take place with a Memorial Mass on Saturday, November 16, 2 p.m. at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Thompson, ND. Memorials may be sent to the “Filling In The Gap” fund at Altru Cancer Center in Grand Forks. Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks is in charge of arrangements. Online guestbook is available at www.amundsonfuneralhome.com.
