Diane Arlette Berg, 82, passed away on Sunday, August 2nd, 2020.
Known for her unique sense of humor, her passion for teaching and her vivacious spirit, Diane will be remembered fondly by the many people whose lives she touched.
Born July 19th, 1938, in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota to Clayton Larson and Arlette Larson (Kittleson), with one older brother, Buzz (Mavis) Larson, who preceded her in death, and a younger sister, Donna (Wayne) Haugrud.
Diane grew up in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, where she graduated from high school. She was a talented swimmer and a baton majorette, leading the high school band. She attended Valley City Teachers College and received a degree in Elementary Education. After moving to East Grand Forks, Minnesota, she began her lifelong career as a third grade teacher at Crestwood Elementary School where she taught for 39 years, and continued her education, receiving a master’s degree.
Diane loved to work in her yard and in her home, always keeping things immaculate. She was ready at all times to welcome guests, delighting in the opportunity to offer her hospitality. Diane loved to give gifts and write little notes to let people know she was thinking of them.
She played the piano, made a “potluck worthy” hotdish, and was a voracious reader.
It was no secret to anyone that Diane had a passion for teaching and could remember something about every student she ever taught. A 100% Norwegian, she could launch into a Norske accent and capture an audience of any age.
She was no stranger to a shotgun and was ready at a moments notice to head out on a hunting trip.
She could two-step with ease and, despite their height difference, was the perfect partner for her husband David. She was dedicated to her family, her career, her country, and her friends, but she found the love of her life in David. Together is where they’ll always be, dance partners for eternity.
Diane is survived by four children, Stacy Becker (Steve), Clarkston, WA, Kim Boggs, Sedalia, MO, Claire Dezotell (Sam Landry), Juno Beach, FL, and Carl Dezotell (Tee), McVille, ND, and five grandchildren, Dana Immertreu, Kaley Boggs, Eric Boggs, Nicholas Becker, and Kelly Peters.
