Dennis B. Strand

Dennis Bruce Strand (71) passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024 while at home. 

Dennis was born on August 16, 1952 in Fargo, ND to Percy and Judith (Myhre) Strand. He was the second of eight children. He graduated from Richland 44 High School in 1970 and after that attended The Association Free Lutheran Bible School (AFLBS) graduating in 1972. Dennis attended the State School Of Science in Wahpeton graduating in 1974 with a bookkeeping/accounting degree. He graduated in 1979 from Moorhead State with a teaching degree. Dennis taught, was principle and coached in Hannaford, ND for several years. After that he had various jobs in Wahpeton and Grand Forks. 

Dennis married Deb (Beaman) Strand on December 27, 1996 and they were happily married for 27 years. Dennis loved all sports and could be found on the golf course, basketball court, racquetball court, etc. Even after his stroke in 2017 he would sit in his wheelchair and shoot many baskets each day. He also loved trivia and could incorporate that into any event – Strand reunions & get-togethers, teaching Sunday School and general conversation. Dennis enjoyed teaching Sunday School & VBS allowing him to share the message of salvation with the kids. He prayed for each one of his nieces, nephews, siblings, family, and friends daily. His personal relationship with Jesus was evident in his daily living. 

Dennis is survived by his wife, Deb Strand; siblings: Ron (Barb) Strand, Elaine (Dan) Mundfrom, Duane (Kim) Strand, Jean (Bob) Rudebusch, Joyce (Bryan) Folson, Paul (Jan) Strand, Charles (Lynn) Strand. Also surviving are his brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law: Jim & Naomi Mathsen, and Daniel & Angela Beaman.  23 nieces/nephews, and many great nieces/nephews. 

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; Percy & Judith Strand and his in-laws; Walt & Ellen Beaman. 

Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024 in Faith Evangelical Free Church, Grand Forks.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service in the church.  Interment will be in Nyskoga Cemetery, Rural Alvarado, Minnesota.
