Delores (Lori) R. Thompson

Delores “Lori” Thompson, 83, of Grand Forks, North Dakota, died on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at her home.

Lori was born on June 6, 1939 in Iowa to Harley and Dorothy (Williams) Longerbone.  She was raised and received her education in Minnesota, where she graduated from Ponsford High School in 1957.  She then went on to Nursing school at St. Luke’s in Fargo, North Dakota where she graduated in 1962, with her registered nursing degree. 

On June 6, 1962, Lori was united in marriage to Allyn Thompson in Kloten, North Dakota.  Lori worked as a registered nurse for well over 40 years.  She spent time as a nurse at the hospital in McVille, ND, St. Michael’s Hospital in Grand Forks, and United Hospital, later Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, before retiring in 2009.

Lori was very active and a passionate member of the Northern Red River Valley Doll Club and enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by her daughter, Alicia (Tom) Ackerson of West Fargo, ND; sons, Eric (May) Thompson of East Grand Forks, MN and Ethan Thompson of Grand Forks; grandchildren, Jayson (Lisa) Ackerson, Travis Ackerson; great-grandchildren, Corbyn, Izabel, Adeline, Rylan and Camden Ackerson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allyn; her parents, Dorothy and Harley Longerbone; and brothers, Gary and Larry Longerbone.
