Delores Johnson

Delores E. Johnson, 88, of Grand Forks passed away surrounded by family on Friday, June 21, 2019, at Woodside Village-Hearthstone.

Delores, the daughter of Adolph and Agnes (Lien) Alfredson, was born September 15, 1930, in Lakota, North Dakota. She graduated from Lakota High School in 1948. Her life focused around her family and faith. She was involved in various church groups, the Girl Scout program, Grand Forks Public Schools Faculty Wives and Thursday Music Club. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and music. She attended North Dakota’s first Girls State.

She married Gordon Johnson on July 15, 1954, in the Lakota Lutheran Church. They began their married life in St. Paul, Minnesota, later moving to Pembina, North Dakota. In 1962 they established their home in Grand Forks.

Delores is survived and will be deeply missed by her daughters; Marcia (Brian) Westlund, West Fargo, ND, and Beth (Todd) Wert, Mesa, AZ; grandchildren: Ryan (Abby) Siewert, Williston, ND; Tyler (Angie) Siewert, Bismarck, ND; Jessica (Caleb) Hunsaker, Mesa, AZ; Christopher (Jenna) Wert, Scottsdale, AZ; Abigail Westlund, Grand Forks, ND; great-grandchildren: Elijah and Mila Siewert, Landon, Liam and Marlie Siewert and Blakely Hunsaker; sister, Margaret Swanson and sister-in-law, Diane Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; parents; and brother, Norman Alfredson.

The family of Delores wishes to thank the Hearthstone staff and Hospice of the Red River Valley staff for their loving and compassionate care.

**In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred in Delores’ name to 4000 Valley Square–Hearthstone or Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2019, at University Lutheran Church, 2122 University Avenue in Grand Forks.

Visitation: the hour prior to the service at the church.

Inurnment: Lakota City Cemetery, Lakota, ND
