DEAN M. CURRAN
Dean M. Curran, 81, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Monday, August 20, 2018, at his home with family.
Born in Grand Forks, ND June 5, 1937, Dean was the son of Francis and Ruth (Karlstad) Curran. He married Judith Lund on September 20, 1958 and is survived by three children: Todd, Tina (and Karl Heinz), Tyler (and Jenna) and his granddaughters Ruth and June, his eldest brother Richard, and wife Darlene Curran, and his younger sister Yvonne (Curran) and her husband John Jacobson, along with many nieces and nephews and their children. He was a deeply loving and devoted father who was fiercely loyal to his family.
Being raised on the farm he developed a life-long propensity for problem solving, building, and envisioning. His talents were highlighted through his work in construction from homes to hospitals. He had an unique ability to see the end result and work backward to a solution with an innovative pursuit to solve problems of anything constructed or mechanical.
Prideful of his Irish and Norwegian heritage he was soft-spoken, humble and a peaceful man. He was an honest and respected businessman who talked easily with anybody and was a mentor to many. He believed life should be pleasant and wanted people to find their happiness and prosperity. He derived a particular pleasure from treasure hunting and, later in life, returning to his family heritage of farming and the land.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, August 24 1-3pm at Muddy Rivers Ballroom at the TownHouse Hotel, 710 1st Ave N, Grand Forks, ND. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to
Altru Hospice and
Hope Lodge, Rochester, MN.
