David Gerszewski

David John Gerszewski, 89, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at home.

David was born on December 14, 1934 in Oslo, Minnesota, the son of Dominick and Susanna (Paschke) Gerszewski. He graduated from Oslo High School. David joined the US Army in June of 1955 and served until June of 1963. David was formerly married to Delores Gerszewski, and they made their home in rural Manvel, ND, where they raised their 5 children. David farmed in his earlier years and was a business owner as a pawnbroker in Grand Forks.

He enjoyed going for walks, coin collecting, working on puzzles, listening to country music (especially Johnny Cash), reading, and spending time with family and special friends Jodi and Linda.

David is survived by his children, daughters, Donna (Keith) Uhrich of Grand Forks, Diane (Mike) Martin, of Lincolnton, North Carolina; sons, Dan (Kari) Gerszewski, and Darrell (Rob) Gerszewski of Grand Forks; a sister, Sister Dominica Gerszewski; brother, Dennis (Felicia) Gerszewski; grandchildren, Dale Hartje, Melissa Torres, Travis Poitra, Amanda Gerszewski, Tyler Lindblad, Andrew Gerszewski, Trevor Gerszewski, Alicia Gerszewski, Madison Gerszewski, Austin Gerszewski, Chelsey Gerszewski, Jon Sansburn, Hayley Sansburn and many great and great-great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dominick and Susanna Gerszewski; brothers, James Gerszewski and Cyril Gerszewski; sisters Irene Czapiewski and Sister Jolenta; daughter, Darlene Gerszewski; and a grandson, Nicholas Gerszewski.

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Red River Valley for the care of their father.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks.  Visitation will be for the hour prior to the service in the funeral home.  Interment will be in Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks.
