In Loving Memory of
David Bitz, 54, passed away on July 3rd, 2021 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. David was born in Roswell, New Mexico on March 4th, 1957 to Ida Lewis and Donovard Bitz. Had a sister, Brenda Lewis.
He worked at many places in his life, but the most recent places before his retirement was The Village Inn, 2-29 Cafe (The Roadhouse), The Big Sioux Cafe, Crary Construction, Darcy's Cafe and finally J.R. Simplot. He was well known for his cooking skills and achievements in his jobs. He shared his skills with people along the way. He liked working at the Village Inn. He made newspaper for being kitchen manager for the 2-29 Cafe. He was there when they opened their doors. Big Sioux Cafe was a great place to work as he made a lot of recognition in his work in the kitchen. Crary Construction was a trade he got to experience. He liked it but due to his health he could not continue. Cancer become his illness and he battled that for couple years. Then he began working at Darcy's, he was able to get a signature dish on the Darcy's Cafe menu, Dave's Special. He beat his cancer in 2010. Started at J.R. Simplot and ended his career as a painter for that company. He loved that job very much, but was a lot of work. He put in ideas and went beyond expectations.
He loved to travel and made sure he got photographs on his journeys. Some hobbies were fixing his cars and others, his solar system and space research, playing video games, having fun with family and friends, and cooking. Enjoyed camping and fishing with family and teaching them how to fish. He loved his sci-fi, western, anime movies and t.v. shows. He had a collection Star Wars and Star Trek things as those were two of his favorite things to watch. He was a hard worker. Humble. He always did whatever he could for his family and friends. His friends were always having some stories to talk about, good or bad. As David even had tons of stories of his own to share. Barbecuing was his way of having fun and bonding with everyone around.Family was everything to him. He loved his family dearly and always said he loved them all the same, every one of them. He loved seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and made him smile. He was always proud about them and showing them off on his phone. When he wanted to be serious, sometimes he had to through in a joke. He was stubborn as a longhorn but was gentle to his loved ones. He always had the biggest heart anyone could imagine.
He is survived by his 5 daughters- Michelle Boyer, Jo Uebel, Tasha Rojas, Nichole Charette, April Belgarde.
