David Lowell Aarvig – 78, passed away at his home Sunday, October 3rd 2021 after a brief illness. Dave was born August 19th 1943, in St. Paul, MN, the son of Virgie (Martini) Aarvig and Ronald Aarvig. He grew up in Grand Forks and graduated from Grand Forks Central in 1961. He began working as an apprentice printer at the GF Herald in 1963, working his way up to Production Manager. In August of 1998 he retired from the Herald and began a second career as a school bus driver for the next 18 years. On October 13, 1973, he married Judy Houlihan. They lived in Grand Forks for all 48 years that they were married. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, shooting, motorcycling, golfing, and watching his grandson's sporting events. Survivors include: his wife Judy; sons, David S. (Lori) Aarvig, Matt (Kristie) Aarvig and Scott Aarvig; grandsons, Casey Aarvig and Cody Aarvig; and brothers, Denny Aarvig and Jack Aarvig. Dave was preceded in death by: his parents; stepfather James Mark, father and mother-in-law, Joe and Agnes Houlihan. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Red River Valley or a charity of your choice. No services are planned.
