Darlene J. Bowman, 88, Thief River Falls, MN and formerly of Grand Forks, ND, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at the Thief River Care Center.

Darlene JoAnne Toby was born July 25, 1933 in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of Mose and Victoria (Zinnie) Toby. She was raised and educated in St. Paul and graduated from St. Paul Central High School. After graduating, Darlene worked as a keypunch operator for Northwest Airlines.

Darlene married George M. Bowman on April 19, 1958 in St. Luke’s Catholic Church of St. Paul. The couple lived in the Twin Cities and later moved to Grand Forks. George and Darlene owned North American Pump Corporation where Darlene worked as a bookkeeper while raising their family.

Darlene was a longtime volunteer for Valley Senior Living and for Holy Family Catholic Church where she also served as a Eucharistic Minister among many other things.

Darlene is survived by her son, George T. (Angela) Bowman and their children, Gregory, George, Geoffrey and Garrett; and daughter, Vicky (Bryan) Grove and their daughter, Jennifer (Andy) Gonnerman; Great grandchildren, Kate Gonnerman and Isabelle Gonnerman; and a sister, Gerane Badian.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, George on June 20, 2005; and siblings, Albert, George, Emmaline, Eleanor, and Elaine.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Church of Grand Forks. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the church. Burial will be 11:45 AM Thursday, July 28, 2022 in Calvary Catholic Cemetery of Osakis, MN.
