Dallas was born on November 9, 1935, in Englevale, North Dakota to Leonard and Elsie (Kulsrud) Kopp. He graduated high school from Lisbon, ND. On November 23, 1954, Dallas married Beth Coit in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Dallas went on to college at Mayville State College where he graduated in 1960. After his education, Dallas taught at Larimore High School from 1960 to 1962, Grand Forks Central from 1962 to 1967, and Red River High School from 1967 to 2000. He was an athletics coach, including football, baseball, girls track and girls’ golf. For all his years of coaching, Dallas was inducted into the North Dakota High School Coaches Hall of Fame, Mayville State Hall of Fame, and Red River Hall of Fame. After retirement, Dallas began working as the equipment manager at U.N.D. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Beth; children, Michael D. (Julie) Kopp of Faribault, MN, Jode (Mitch) Gibbs of Grand Forks, Danny (Connie) Kopp of Costa Mesa, CA and Mark (Susan) Kopp of Grand Forks; sister, Betty Galbreath of Enderlin, ND; 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leon, Clinton and Loren Kopp; and a sister, Vivian Chapman.
