Dale J. Viken

Dale J. Viken, 86, Grand Forks, ND, passed away Friday, September 22, 2023 at home.

Dale Jerome Viken was born October 31, 1937 near Hatton, ND, the son of Donald and Alice (Lyste) Viken. He was raised and educated near Hatton and graduated from high school in Mayville, ND.

Dale served in the U. S. Army. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to the area.

Dale married his first wife, Janice Satrom, in 1962 and raised their three sons in Grand Forks, ND. Dale worked at the North Dakota State Mill and Elevator where he met LouAnn Bjornson (Falla). Dale and LouAnn later married on July 11 , 1980 and the two worked alongside at the Mill until retirement.

Dale was a very hard worker who devoted his life to his children. Dale enjoyed visiting with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed painting homes and general maintenance and caretaking work. Dale was a hard-working man who enjoyed providing for and caring for his family.

Dale is survived by his wife LouAnn Viken, his brother Richard Viken, three sons Brent Viken, Chad (Christina) Viken, and Derek Viken, and his step-children Jeffery (Aurora) Falla, Lori (Bruce) Hanson, and Gregory (Deirdre) Falla. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren, his ten great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Alice Viken, his brothers Donald Viken Junior and Chester Viken, and his grandson Daniel Falla.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the funeral home. Burial will follow at 1:00 PM in Little Forks Lutheran Cemetery in Steele County, ND.
