Cynthia A. “Cindy” Haugen, 63, Mekinock, ND, died Saturday, September 1, 2018 in her home.

 Cynthia Ann Montgomery was born December 17, 1954 in Grand Forks, ND the daughter of Elmer and Annabel (Ronan) Montgomery. She was raised by Manvel, ND and graduated from high school at Oslo, MN in 1973, then attended the University of North Dakota.

 Cindy married Lloyd Haugen on September 2, 1976 in Grand Forks. They lived in Grand Forks and Manvel before settling near Mekinock where they raised their children.  Her family was her greatest love, everything she did revolved around them.

 Cindy was great with all animals, but her passion was always in her horses. She trained, showed and judged many shows throughout the years. She was gracious with her knowledge and loved teaching and helping many learn about and enjoy horses.  She also enjoyed gardening and growing flowers. She was a member of the Midway School board for 15 years.

 Survivors include her husband, Lloyd Haugen, Mekinock, ND; daughter, Jessica Haugen, Thompson, ND; sons, Zachary (Jennifer) Haugen, Grand Forks and Lance Haugen, Mekinock, ND; grandchildren, Henry, Finley, Cindy, Larry and Evelyn; sisters, Sally (Stan) Dockter, Manvel, ND, and Rhea (Tim) Ferry, Manvel, ND; brother, Shawn (Krista) Montgomery, Manvel.

 She was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, Scott and a sister, Sheila.

 Memorial Services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Middle Grove Lutheran Church near Mekinock. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service at Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for the hour before the service in the church.
