Curtis Hovet, a son of Allan Hovet and Jeanne (Evenson) Hovet/Birkholz, was born on August 28, 1963 in Crookston, MN. Curtis grew up in Grand Forks/East Grand Forks and after high school worked at various jobs in the area until the Grand Forks flood of 1997, and then moved to the Minneapolis metro area for about 8 years. He then returned to Grand Forks in 2005.
Curtis was a hard worker his whole life and was employed by Truck Hero (Retrax) for several years until his health forced him to retire early in 2019. He was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma 2 years ago. Curt had multiple chemotherapy and radiation treatments, even undergoing a stem cell transplant this past winter. He fought so hard, but the cancer was just too aggressive. He is finally at peace now.
Curtis had a unique personality - he lived life his own way and by his own rules. He had an independent spirit, and those who met him would never forget him!
He is survived by sisters, Robyn (Dan) Kopischke, Kristie Hovet, Shelly Hovet and brother Shawn Hovet, step-father Roger Birkholz, as well as nieces and nephews (Michael Hovet, Abbey Essen, Alia Kopischke, Brandon Verzosa)
Curtis is preceded in death by his parents, Allan Hovet and Jeanne Birkholz; a brother, Eric Hovet.
